Gone are the days where we would do the 1300 km / 800 miles in one day, just stopping to refill the car‘s tank and empty ours. No, these days we take our time, because it‘s way more enjoyable and less stressful.
That being said, our first stop yesterday was Chalon-sur-Saone. There are some accents in there, feel free to add them in your mind. This wonderful bluetooth keyboard isn‘t really helping. But I digress.
Apart from the obligatory heavy, heavy rain the first part of the trip was quite okay.

The picture is quite random, I give you that, because I only took one pic while waiting fro my wife. But Chalon-sur-Saone was nice. Our hotel was .. quite loud, so that sleep became optional, but we managed to get a little bit of it after 1 am, despite going to sleep at 10pm. But obviously guests who arrived late weren‘t able to do so quietly and had lots (LOTS) of stuff to talk about.
Well. Day 2 – today as of writing this – was another day filled with driving, but it was even more relaxed. We chose a different rute, a bit of a detour – but not too much – to avoid Lyon and instead went via Clermnt-Ferrand.
At lunch time we decided to leave the autoroute and drive to a radom village – in this case Montblanc. My wife likes the pens, and why not. The café we found didn‘t offer much food, so we went on – a marvellous choice, because we found something way better. In the guise of a vegetable shop was a gem of a delicatessen brasserie – „Claro que si“, where we had mussels (raw), a charcuterie board, mussels (cooked) and shrimps as well. All so very tasty and a perfect lunch.

The last stretch to Alet-les-Bains was nice, sunny and we shared a lot of stories. We are nostalgic about the place, of course, having been there so many times. True, a lot of things have changed in the village, but some stayed the same.

After exploring and re-visiting every nook and cranny, we ended the evening having dinner at the Casino – which we hadn‘t visited before. It was surprisingly good, and i had the first duck of this holiday.
