A Forest in Spring

If you are wondering what is happening with this blog, then I have to say: right now? It’s quiet.

I’ve been out cold for the last two weeks, sneezing and coughing, and not just because of the pollen; although those are involved, too. No, there was simply no energy left for a blog post, and I had to get back to “normal”, whatever that means for me.

But today I felt better. My lovely wife and I went to a nearby forest and had a lovely walk in the morning, before the families had finished breakfast. Nothing against families, but a quiet forest with all the bird song is – to us – so much nicer than one that is filled with human voices. But that’s not what I wanted to talk about.

Spring is coming. The first green leaves are showing amongst the evergreens: firs, pines and the like. Not every bush or tree is already starting to grow leaves, but some are already blossoming; white, pink, yellow, all the nice colours. It’s always something that puts a smile on my face; I love it when nature is optimistic and just does her thing.

I started this blog for the holiday in Tenerife; I am currently mulling whether WordPress – the software I am using – is the best, and what I would need to change. But in the meantime I’d like to provide you with more content, every now and then. So please check back if you find my writing interesting, entertaining or useful. Or any combination of those.

There’s a lot going on in my life at the moment – the quiet spell seems to be over – and I can’t promise I’ll fill this blog with all the things I had (and have) in mind.

In May I’ll visit the UK for a short time; actually I’ll visit an old friend. I have promised her since years that I’d come over and stay and cook for her, and she is rightly pointing out that neither of us is getting younger. I’m looking forward to spending time with her! She’s quite erudite and witty, and it’s easy to have long discussions about a large variety of subjects.
