It’s been a week since we returned from Tenerife – well, almost a week. Time for some reflection.
As for the landscape itself, it has a bit of everything: a monumental fire energy close to the Teide volcano, air energy because of the winds, water because of the ocean and the mighty waves rolling in, and also an earth energy because it is very grounded. It has a rough yet not uninviting feel to it, overall.
Please bear in mind that statements like these are by their very nature subjective. You might experience something completely different. I think it’s a good place to visit if you want to experience a volcanic landscape and meditate in some truly beautiful volcanic surroundings. A word of note, though – there were already a lot of people around in mid-March. I can’t quite imagine how many will be there in high season – so the hunt for a spot that is beautiful and yet quite enough to meditate might be a bigger challenge.

It’s a good place to get grounded, too. Depending on where you come from, the Spanish way of living might slow you down or gently force you to do things differently. The whole island will help you to relax, though, and to let go of whatever problems ail you in your daily life. It’s difficult to be stressed in this landscape.
All the walks and hikes did a very good job of grounding us and pulling us into the Now, just because there was beauty everywhere. Granted, only a small amount of plants, bushes and trees already blossomed or grew, but it was already enough to let go of Winter and say hello to Spring.
Since we didn’t feel like spending too much time driving around, we didn’t get to see one or two interesting places, but overall we’ve seen all the spots we wanted to see, including the pyramids of Güimar . I still need to read more about those, but independent of what they are, who had built them at which time and why, they’re worth a visit, just for the beautiful surroundings.
Despite the beauty and the good food, I am not sure I’ll visit again. Not because it isn’t worth a second visit, but because there are so many places for me that are worth a first one.
