Siesta-ception

Sometimes when on holiday there are days when the weather isn‘t great and we‘re both lazy. Usually we then try to motivate each other to do something – anything, really. But. Hear me out. Our room is charming, and after a nice breakfast the cleaning lady had already made our bed, so we thought… without further „disruptions“ we could just have a very quick nap before we then did something cool. So we did a morning nap. And then we read a bit, cuddled and read some more until lunch time.

Unfortunately and contrary to the picture which was taken on a different day we did not get up to have a fancy coffee, but scavenged whatever we had in our backpacks. Little snacks for the hikes (magdalenas), some crisps with Serrano flavour and half a bag of pistacchios. What a magnificent lunch it was, and we went back to extend the Siesta just a little bit more.

Well. During the Siesta we felt like Siesta-ing, so we Siesta‘d some more.

We finally managed to leave the hotel at about 18:00 because we felt we wanted to have proper food for dinner. We went to San Miguel (not too far away), parked the car and had a look in the shops on our way to the Antiquarium, our restaurant for today.

We also had a cortado, a typical Spanish type of coffee, before we went to the restaurant.

It‘s easily one of the prettiest we‘ve been to in the past few days, with lovingly placed decorations and old (or made to look old) furniture. I felt a bit sorry for the restaurant, because we were the only guests that evening, and they do deserve a lot more!

I had an onion soup as a starter, and now maybe you‘ll say that is boring, but this onion soup was exactly what I had wished for. Blazingly hot – I do have a mini tradition where I burn the roof of my mouth on the melted cheese of onion soup, and honoured it – with caramellised onions, and cheese on a bit of toast. Really a treat.

As was the duck! After yesterday‘s slightly disappointing duck I tried again, and this time it was perfect and had a sauce I enjoyed much more than the previous one at Tagoro. My lovely wife enjoyed her food as well, and we also had delicious postres; some cake with a name I forgot (mostly cream, caramel and profiterolles) for me and Orange flan for my darling. Both excellent.

Excellent enough, in fact, that well return on Friday for dinner.
